Abstract

In Managing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Public Service Organizations: A Liberatory Justice Approach, Rashmi Chordiya, and Meghna Sabharwal offer a fresh, transformative perspective on a critical issue in public administration: moving beyond superficial diversity efforts to confront systemic inequities genuinely. The book emphasizes the importance of addressing systemic oppression by recognizing and embracing the diversity of social identities, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, and disabilities. Through its universal approach, the textbook fosters public administrators to acutely engage with the principles of solidarity and justice to dismantle barriers that prevent marginalized groups from full participation in public service. By focusing on intersectionality and multi-generational organizations, the authors reimagine public service as a space for meaningful, sustainable, and equity-centered transformation.

Abdollah Zeraatpisheh, The University of Texas at Dallas

Abdollah Zeraatpisheh (abdollah.zeraatpisheh@utdallas.edu) is a third-year PhD student in public administration at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). Specializing in human resources (HR), performance management, DEI, behavioral public administration, and anti-fragility, he brings over 20 years of HR experience to his research. Additionally, he serves as a graduate teaching instructor at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Jyoti Aggarwal, University of Texas at Dallas

Jyoti Aggarwal (jyoti.aggarwal@utdallas.edu) is a third-year PhD student at the University of Texas at Dallas in public administration. Her research includes work on leadership, human resources, public management, and performance. She serves as a graduate teaching instructor at the University of Texas at Dallas.
